Nothing can stop us

I can feel you dreamin' of me

Name:
Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States

I never much liked the flaps over zippers, needles, ovens, lawn mowers, or swimming. I love my Les Paul, and every song I've written with or without it.

20 January 2009

The Liberty Bell

Her dirty laundry that she'd rather
Throw away than ever wash
Unclean memories
She never liked the grime
And I guess that in time
Storms will weather to fade the colors
Bleached by salt
Trimmed like hedges
The chirping of the birds rang shrill
As if gently banging lead
On the insides of tin cans
She wasted her lines
And cast out all her rope
For nothing more than an awfully thin
Hollow hope
While the others flailed in a flurry
To settle their nests
She laughed and dawdled
As they hurried with heavy hearts
Hers too light
That it rose high into the sky
And burst in the sun
The city groaned as the sloppy chores
Never were attended to
She knocked over the cones they passed through
So that those behind her lost their way
And as the others claimed their homes
She had nowhere to stay

Can't believe I could be so stupid sometimes to forget.
Can't believe I'd let some destroy the whole.
One wonderful gift,
That could secure the past,
And offer hope to the future,
Will be with me forever.
I won't let myself be bitter.
