Umbilical Bind
Sew up my eyes
Shut the door and slip down the light
It must feel so right
To be big, bright, and everything
Posted at the corner of sidewalks
I want to find purpose for loose change
Not mindlessly rearrange
My tidings everyday
Just to feel the way
Material things feel
Just to memorize the lack of light
I look through brackish water
And wait to float to the top
But if I continue to drop
I'll cut the umbilical bind
As I wait, you say
"The world gets darker everyday
But you will change it"
Shut the door and slip down the light
It must feel so right
To be big, bright, and everything
